| Spanish abstract | Este artículo brinda una fotografía actual de los y las habitantes de Bogotá mayores de 13 años, a la luz de tres temas fundamentales: Cultura Democrática, Cultura Ciudadana y Cultura Política, que confluyen en un concepto denominado Culturas Públicas. Este análisis de las Culturas Públicas se hace a partir de la Quinta Encuesta Bienal de Culturas, instrumento adelantado por la Alcaldía Mayor de Bogotá a través del Observatorio de Culturas de Secretaría de Cultura, Recreación y Deporte que indagó a más de 13.000 habitantes de las 19 localidades urbanas de la Ciudad en 2009. El artículo ofrece hallazgos interesantes frente al grado de tolerancia, respeto a las diferencias, valores cívicos y democráticos, conflictividad percibida y participación en política de los y las habitantes de Bogotá. El lector podrá aprovechar esta información y las consiguientes reflexiones para ahondar en su conocimiento y compromiso con la construcción de ciudad |
| English abstract | This paper provides a current picture of the inhabitants of Bogota, in the light of three main areas: Democratic Culture, Citizen Culture and Policy Culture, which converge in a concept we refer to as the Public Cultures. The analysis of the Public Cultures stems from the Fifth Biennial Survey of Cultures, an instrument developed by the Bogotá city government through the Observatory of Cultures, a bureau of the Secretary of Culture, Recreation and Sports. The response of over 13000 inhabitants in the 19 burroughs of the city are depicted in the 2009 survey. The article presents findings on the degree of tolerance, respect for differences, civic and democratic values, perceived conflicts and political participation of the people of Bogotá. Readers may take this information and subsequent analysis to deepen their knowledge and commitment to building a sense of belonging in the city |
