| Spanish abstract | El transcurrir histórico de la odontología y la salud bucal exigen una mirada retrospectiva que permita conocer los preludios de la profesión y comprender su evolución, en función de las necesidades transformadoras de la disciplina y el desarrollo societal. El presente ensayo tiene como premisa comprender desde la socioantropología de la odontología, los cambios ocurridos en el devenir de las antiguas culturas, con respecto a la concepción de la salud-enfermedad bucal. Esta investigación se desarrolla desde el paradigma cualitativo, buscando especialmente reconstruir los patrones simbólicos que se expresan en las esferas del mundo de la vida cotidiana en las primeras civilizaciones, vale decir, en la cosmovisión de las culturas, buscando un acercamiento a lo subjetivo construido en torno al componente bucal de la salud. Se pretende, a través de este recorrido en lugar y tiempo, resaltar los logros y legados de la odontología, realizando una arqueología sobre el arte dentario y el proceso formativo en las civilizaciones del mundo antiguo, así como de los hechos y personajes más relevantes, destacando los resultados científico-técnicos, con el propósito de buscar una aproximación a las marcas epistemológicas que se ponen de manifiesto en cada época |
| English abstract | The historical course of dentistry and oral health require a retrospective look that allows knowing the preludes of the profession and understanding its evolution, depending on the transformative needs of the discipline and societal development. The following essay has as premise to understand from the socioanthropological approach of dentistry, the changes occurred in the evolution of ancient cultures, concerning the conception of oral health-disease. This research is developed from the qualitative paradigm, seeking especially to reconstruct the symbolic patterns that are expressed and affect the spheres of the world of everyday life in earlier civilizations, be as it is, in the cosmic vision of cultures, seeking an approach to the subjective field constructed around the oral component of health. It is intended, through this journey in space and time, to highlight the achievements and legacies of dentistry, performing a review on dental art and the training process in the civilizations of the ancient world, as well as the most relevant facts and characters, highlighting the scientifictechnical results, with the purpose of seeking an approximation to the epistemological marks that are evident in each era |
