| Spanish abstract | El proceso de la migración española hacia Argentina fue representado en diversas películas. En la medida en que la cinematografía constituyó el principal vehículo audiovisual de construcción y circulación de imaginarios sociales durante la primera mitad del siglo XX (período objeto del texto), el análisis de las películas reenvía necesariamente a cuestiones de identidad y ciudadanía, de política y cultura más generales. El artículo estudia la construcción y función social de un personaje prototípico, “Cándida” (una empleada doméstica procedente de Galicia), a cargo de una de las máximas figuras cómicas del cine nacional en su “época de oro”, Niní Marshall (Publicado originalmente en: Secuencias. | English abstract | The process of the Spanish migration to Argentina was depicted in several films. To the extent that the film was the main audiovisual vehicle construction and circulation of social imaginary in the first half of the twentieth century (period of the text), the analysis of the films necessarily forwarded to questions of identity and citizenship, politics and broader culture. The article examines the social construction and function of a prototypical character, "Candida" (a domestic worker from Galicia), by one of the top comic figures of national cinema in its "golden age", Nini Marshall.
