English abstract Based on acculturation models, the main objective of this work is to study the real and ideal acculturation strategies, the concordance and discrepancy of both options and the prejudice attitudes in the host and immigration populations in the city of Cuenca (Spain). A social attitudes questionnaire was given to 235 native teachers and 180 Latin American immigrants to fill in. Analysis revealed that teachers prefer assimilation but they perceive that immigrants are implementing separation. Immigrants prefer and choose assimilation. Teachers have a higher degree of prejudice than immigrants. In general, the highest degrees of prejudice are related in both groups to a preference for marginalization and separation. These results suggest that in order to understand a relationship between cultural groups it is important to consider the mutual attitudes when the acculturation process is being studied
