| Spanish abstract | Dos tendencias caracterizan la actualidad latinoamericana: el temor al populismo y el entusiasmo por los movimientos autonomistas que defienden reivindicaciones particularistas. Esto define un contexto posliberal y posneoliberal. Aunque muy difundidas, ambas tendencias tienen como origen común una concepción limitada de la ciudadanía: en el primer caso es percibida exclusivamente en función de los derechos políticos y el formalismo democrático, mientras que en el segundo se la concibe solo en su dimensión cultural. El artículo argumenta que, para que sea un instrumento eficaz de progreso social, la ciudadanía no debe ser vista de manera reduccionista, sino repensada –y valorada– en todas sus dimensiones |
| English abstract | The current situation in Latin America is characterized by two relatively new tendencies: the fear of populism and an enthusiasm for movements favoring regional autonomy and expressing particular local demands. Together they define a post-liberal and post-neoliberal context. Both reflect a limited conception of citizenship: in the first case, because it is conceived of exclusively in terms of political rights and democratic formalism, while in the second case, because it is reduced to its cultural dimension. This article argues that, in order to effectively promote social progress, citizenship should not be conceived in such narrow terms, but rather rethought –and appreciated– in its multiple dimensions |
