| Spanish abstract | En los últimos años, el sector agropecuario ha disminuido su participación en el PIB, genera menos divisas que en el pasado y muestra resultados poco alentadores. Esto ha creado, entre otros problemas, una creciente necesidad de incrementar las importaciones de alimentos, que en 2007 llegaron a los 1.600 millones de dólares. Reanimar al sector agropecuario es por lo tanto fundamental para mejorar el funcionamiento de la economía, garantizar la creación de empleo y propiciar fuentes de energía renovables. Aunque ya se han dado algunos pasos, es necesario enfrentar las dificultades de las cooperativas, dotar de mayor autonomía a las unidades de producción y garantizar su acceso al mercado |
| English abstract | In recent years, agriculture has reduced its participation in theGNP, contributes less hard currency and, in general, has had a disappointing performance. This, in turn, has led to an increasing need to import food, accounting for 1.600 million dollars of the import bill in 2007. A reactivation of the sector is thus of crucial importance for improving the general functioning of the economy, to guarantee the creation of job opportunities and for the provision of renewable sources of energy. Although some steps have been taken, there is a need to confront the difficulties facing the cooperatives, permit greater autonomy for productive units and guarantee access to the market |
