| Spanish abstract | El mundo actual, casi totalmente inmerso en el capitalismo neoliberal globalizado, vive desde 2008 la crisis más grave, y más mundial, de su historia que, además, está acompañada de otras graves manifestaciones de las contradicciones capitalistas. La tesis de este ensayo es que el capitalismo ha llegado a sus límites objetivos lo que se aprecia en las tendencias múltiples que anuncian su fin. Las tendencias identificadas se clasifican en duras y blandas. El análisis se centra en las dos tendencias duras, las que por sí mismas podrían llevar al fin del capitalismo y, uan de ellas, de la vida humana. Se analizan dos versiones del fin del capitalismo, la formal o fin del capitalismo tal como lo conocemos, y la real o fin del capitalismo que da lugar a sociedades poscapitalistas. Se exploran las interacciones entre las siete tendencias enumeradas. La segunda parte del ensayo, secciones 5 a 10, se centran en la tendencia al fin del “mundo tal como lo conocemos” analizándose en ella los nueve límites ecológico-planetarios, la contradicción entre valor de uso-y valor (conocida también como paradoja de Lauderdale), la postura crítico-positiva de Marx y, por último la segunda contradicción del Capital postulada por O’ Connor y puesta en duda por John Bellamy Foster |
| English abstract | Today’s world, almost totally immersed in globalized neoliberal capitalism, lives since 2008 the most severe crisis in world history which is, moreover, accompanied by other serious manifestations of capitalist contradictions. The thesis of this essay is that capitalism has reached its objective limits, which is reflected in the multiple trends that herald its end. These trends are classified into hard and soft. The analysis focuses on the two hard trends, which themselves could lead to the end of capitalism and one of them of human life. Two versions of the end of capitalism, formal or end of capitalism as we know it, and the actual or definitive end of capitalism resulting in post-capitalist societies, are analyzed. The interactions among the seven listed trends are explored. The second part of the article, sections 5-10, focus on the trend towards the end of “ the world as we know it” analyzing nine eco-planetary limits, the contradiction between use-value and value (also known as the Lauderdale Paradox), the purpose of Marx of building both a positive and a critical theory, and finally the second contradiction of Capital postulated by O’Connor and criticised by John Bellamy Foster |
