| Spanish abstract | Múltiples alteraciones estructurales del corazón y el sistema vascular traen como consecuencia disfunciones en la acción circulatoria; dependiendo de la severidad de tal lesión llega a ser necesario el reemplazo o la intervención sobre algunas estructuras por medio de diferentes implantes que pueden ser de tipo biológico o sintético. Las posibilidades abiertas con la incursión de diferentes biomateriales, con gran compatibilidad biológica y excelentes comportamientos biomecánicos, permiten disponer en la actualidad de una variedad de elementos para el manejo quirúrgico de pacientes con diversas patologías cardiovasculares, incrementando su calidad de vida. Los biomateriales de uso cardiovascular surgen de los desarrollos de nuevos materiales, mediante procesos expeditos que brindan nuevas texturas, diversos comportamientos mecánicos y tolerancias al esfuerzo y a la agresión histoquímica, lo que garantiza un adecuado comportamiento al ser implantados en el organismo humano. Se hace una revisión de los diferentes biomateriales usados dentro de la patología cardiovascular, como aspecto introductorio de este apasionante tema |
| English abstract | Multiple structural alterations of the heart and the vascular system bring as consequence dysfunctions in the circulatory activity; depending upon the severity of the injury could be necessary the replacement or the intervention of some structures by means of different implants, which can be of biological or synthetic type. The opened possibilities with the appearing of many biomaterials, with great biological compatibility and excellent biomechanical behaviors, allow the use nowadays of a variety of elements for the surgical intervention of patients with several cardiovascular pathologies, increasing their quality of life. The cardiovascular biomaterials arise from the development of new materials, by means of effective processes that offer new textures, diverse mechanical behaviors, tolerances to strain and to histological-chemical aggression, which guarantees a suitable behavior when being implanted in the human body. An abstract of different biomateriales used within the cardiovascular pathology is given in this paper, as introductory aspect of this exciting subject |
