| English abstract | Between 2013 and 2015, Brazil experienced numerous demonstrations in its major cities that drew thousands of people into the streets. The aim of this article is to analyze the discursive trajectory of these demonstrations, focusing on three distinct and essential moments: (1) the June 2013 demonstrations; (2) the demonstrations surrounding the 2014 FIFA Soccer World Cup; (3) and the demonstrations linked to the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff in March 2015. We aim at showing that a discursive shift took place towards the political right throughout around two years. To analyze this trajectory, we made use of the discourse theory developed by Ernesto Laclau, whose main theses are explored via two works: Hegemony and socialist strategy: towards a radical democratic politics, written with Chantal Mouffe and published in 1985, and On populist reason from 2005 |
| Portuguese abstract | Entre 2013 e 2015, o Brasil vivenciou um conjunto significativo de manifestações que levou milhares de pessoas às ruas de suas principais cidades. Neste artigo, analisamos a trajetória discursiva desses eventos percorrendo três momentos distintos e fundamentais: (1) as manifestações de junho de 2013; (2) as manifestações relacionadas à Copa do Mundo de Futebol em 2014 e (3) as manifestações pelo impeachment da Presidenta Dilma Rousseff, em março de 2015. Pretendemos demonstrar que, no decorrer de cerca de dois anos, houve um deslo- camento discursivo em uma direção conservadora. Para levar a efeito nosso objetivo, nos valemos da teoria do discurso desenvolvida por Ernesto Laclau, cujas principais teses encontram-se nas obras Hegemonia e estratégia socialista: por uma política democrática radical, escrita com Chantal Mouffe e publicada originalmente em 1985, e A razão populista, de 2005 |
