| Spanish abstract | En este ensayo se aborda la recepción del tema fáustico en el México finisecular, en especial en el caso de Amado Nervo, quien lo retomó narrativamente en dos ocasiones. Lo hizo siguiendo una dirección secularizadora, en que el dúo de Fausto y Mefistófeles pierde altura metafísica y se vuelve más terrenal y burgués, con preocupaciones mundanas relativas a amores y triunfos artísticos, en los que ni siquiera hay pacto de sangre pues el diablo regala sus oficios sin pedir nada a cambio |
| English abstract | This essay approaches the reception of the Faustian theme in turn-of-the-century Mexico, especially in the case of Amado Nervo, who narratively returned to it on two occasions. He did this under a secularizing direction, in which the duo of Faust and Mephistopheles loses metaphysical altitude and becomes more earthly and bourgeois, with mundane preoccupations relating to love and artistic triumph, in which there is no blood contract since the devil gives his services without asking for anything in return |
