| Spanish abstract | El caso Acosta Martínez y otros vs. Argentina visibilizó un patrón grave de violencia policial, discriminación racial e impunidad existente en Argentina en la década del ’90. El Estado argentino efectuó un reconocimiento de responsabilidad respecto al contexto de discriminación estructural y la utilización institucional de perfiles raciales en perjuicio de las personas afrodescendientes. Ello habilitó a la Corte Interamericana a reforzar estándares establecidos respecto al uso de la fuerza, el principio de no discriminación y el derecho a no ser privado de la libertad física arbitrariamente |
| English abstract | The case of Acosta Martinez et al. v. Argentina made visible a serious pattern of police violence, racial discrimination and impunity that existed in Argentina in the 1990s. The Argentine State acknowledged responsibility regarding the context of structural discrimination and the institutional use of racial profiling to the detriment of people of African descent. This enabled the Inter-American Court to reinforce established standards regarding the use of force, the principle of non-discrimination and the right not to be deprived of liberty arbitrarily |
