| English abstract | This article presents a sample of the photographic collections that form part of the Musée de la Vallée in Barcelonnette, France; these collections document the activities and interests of emigrants from that valley and their descendents. Those people left an indelible mark on the social and economic history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Mexico by playing a central role in the history of industrialization, commerce and banking, and in the development of architecture, fashion and culture in Mexico’s main cities |
