| Spanish abstract | El artículo estudia las maneras cómo se ha establecido la residencia de los hijos de un grupo de familias combinadas. Estas familias se caracterizan por la presencia de hijos de uniones previas, lo que supone que no todos sus integrantes viven bajo el mismo techo. A pesar de la diversidad de arreglos residenciales, hay una tendencia a que las madres vivan con su descendencia. Esta circunstancia genera formas de convivencia distintas entre padrastros e hijastros, y madrastras e hijos de su marido. Estas diferencias pueden ser entendidas desde una perspectiva de género, en la que se espera que la madre sea la que atienda, críe y eduque a sus hijos. Cuando la madrastra realiza estas tareas se generan conflictos con los hijastros en la convivencia cotidiana |
| English abstract | The article studies the different ways in which a group of reconstituted families had settled the residence of their children. One of the characteristics of these families is that their members don't live in the same house. There are different residential arrangements, but the families that had been interviewed, mothers and their children usually live together. This promotes different ways of relationship between stepfather and their stepchildren, and stepmother and her husband's children. These differences can be understood from a gender perspective, when the mother is expected to take care, breed and educate her children. When the stepmother does this work, stepchildren reject her authority, and there are constant conflicts in daily life |
