| Spanish abstract | Las maternidades posmodernas o nuevas maternidades descentran a la mujer como responsable única del ejercicio de la maternidad, así como de ser el soporte afectivo de la familia. Tal es el caso de las familias homoparentales o generadas artificialmente, donde los hijos/hijas de parejas gays o lésbicas pueden ser atendidos maternalmente por un hombre o por una mujer que no es la madre biológica. En este sentido, son maternidades que desafían las ideologías dominantes de género que permiten, además, que la relación madre-hija, que en la cultura occidental ha sido representada en términos de estrago y pensada como la línea filial de transmisión de la maternidad, precisamente, se replantee a favor de otras vías de articulación simbólica de la feminidad |
| English abstract | Postmodern or new maternities have removed from women the role of being the sole person who can be responsible for maternity, and also from being the affective supporter of the family. This is the case with homoparental families, or those conceived artificially, where children of gay or lesbian couples can be looked after and cared for maternally either by a man, or by a woman who was not the biological mother. In this respect, these maternities challenge the dominant ideologies of gender and also Western representations of the mother-daughter relationship that have traditionally been understood in terms of ravage. Maternity in postmodern families can thus speak to us about different symbolic articulations of femininity |
