| English abstract | This work aims inform lusophone readers about the publication (in Portuguese) of Donner and Fumerton’s John Stuart Mill. The book has introductory character and is dedicated to the most important topics of Mill’s philosophy. It is divided into two main parts, which one is about Mill’s moral and political thought, and the other is related to his logic, epistemology and metaphysics. I stress the most stand out discussions throughout each part and, at the end, I make considerations about negative and positive points of the book. I conclude that this is a commendable reading to those interested on Mill’s philosophy, especially to the beginners on Mill’s thought |
| Portuguese abstract | Este trabalho visa informar aos leitores lusófonos sobre a publicação (em português) de John Stuart Mill, de autoria de Donner e Fumerton. O livro tem cunho introdutório e é dedicado aos tópicos mais importantes da filosofia de Mill. Ele divide-se em duas partes principais, sendo uma sobre o pensamento moral e político de Mill e a outra sobre a sua lógica, epistemologia e metafísica. Saliento as discussões que mais se destacam ao longo de cada parte e, ao final, apresento considerações acerca dos pontos negativos e positivos do livro. Concluo que trata-se de uma leitura recomendável para os interessados na filosofia de Mill, sobretudo, para os iniciantes em seus estudos sobre ele |
