| Spanish abstract | En el contexto de la Dictadura, la historiografía chilena de izquierda experimentó una renovación teórica que se expresó en la llamada Nueva Historia Social, desarrollada tanto en una corriente interna (Chile) como externa (exilio). Esta última fue encabezada por el historiador Gabriel Salazar, quien intentando superar la tradición marxista de la historiografía nacional, terminó por habitar la matriz categorial de la tradición liberal, lo cual se expresó en la reducción naturalista con la que buscó comprender el concepto de “lo popular” |
| English abstract | Chilean left historiography experienced a theoretical renewal during thedictatorship, which was expressed in the so-called New Social History. This historiographical movement was developed both as an internal trend (Chile) andas an external one (exile). This last phase was led by the Chilean historianGabriel Salazar, who tried to surpass the national Marxist tradition, but endedup inhabiting the categorical matrix of the Liberal tradition, which wasexpressed in the naturalistic reduction with which he aimed to understand theconcept of “the popular.” |
