| Spanish abstract | La utilización de sensores remotos aerotransportados con alta resolución espectral o hiperespectrales, ha venido incrementándose, paulatinamente, en estudios de elementos sobre la superficie terrestre. En particular, el estudio de cuerpos de agua mediante estos instrumentos ha recibido un gran impulso en los últimos años, en diversos campos de investigación. El objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar una caracterización espacial del arrecife coralino de Cayos Arcas utilizando el sensor hiperespectral aerotransportado CASI (Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager). Los resultados obtenidos mediante el procesamiento de imágenes muestran que es posible la detección de sedimento (distribución y patrones de transporte), la batimetría y las características fisiográficas de la región entre los aspectos más importantes |
| English abstract | Utilisation of high-spectral resolution airborne remote sensors has steadily been increased in studies of elements on the Earth' surface. Particularly, the study of water bodies using these instruments has recently received special attention, in a number of research activities. The aim of this paper is to show a spectral characterization of the coral reef Cayos Arcas using the hyperspectral Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager (CASI). Image processing results show the possibility of sediment detection (distribution and transport patterns), bathymetry, and physiographic characteristics of the region among the principal features |
