| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo tiene como hilo conductor el problema más señalado del mundo árabo-islámico y el tema central que ya planteó el reformismo musulmán y el pensamiento árabe contemporáneo hasta nuestros días: cómo renovar el turath (legado cultural) y qué papel asignar al islam en nuestro tiempo. Naguib Mahfuz afrontó, desde la literatura, esta misma problemática. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar su reflexión al respecto mediante una de sus novelas más controvertidas. Su posición crítica puede ser, en este sentido, además una fuente de inspiración para pensar hoy el islam más allá del islamismo e incluso del reformismo |
| English abstract | This work has as thread the most mentioned problem of Arab-Islamic world and the central issue that dealt the Muslim Reformism and the contemporary Arab thought until today: how to renew the turath (cultural heritage) and what role to assign to Islam nowadays. Nayib Mahfouz dealt from literature, the same problem. The aim of this paper is to analyze his thought through one of his most controversial works.
