| English abstract | In 1972 Desiderio Navarro dedicated an entire book to the study of José Martí"s poetry from a semiotic perspective. Innovative due to the pruritus of scientificity that presides over it, that book, however, did not circulate in Cuba except through one of its chapters… thirty years later. As if it were the two sides of a coin, the rereading to which this pioneering study is subjected here seeks, on the one hand, to identify the main distinctions of its proposal, and, on the other, to analyze it as a symptom of the state of affairs in the field of Martí studies in Cuba during that decade, also known as "gray". |
| Spanish abstract | En 1972 Desiderio Navarro dedicó todo un libro al estudio de la poesía de José Martí desde una perspectiva semiótica. Novedoso por el prurito de cientificidad que lo preside, ese libro, sin embargo, no circuló en Cuba sino mediante un capítulo suyo... más de 30 años después. Como si se tratara de las dos caras de una moneda, la relectura a que se somete aquí ese estudio pionero busca, por un lado, identificar las principales distinciones de su propuesta, y, por el otro, analizarlo como un síntoma del estado de cosas en terreno de los estudios martianos en Cuba durante esa década, conocida también como "gris". |
