| Spanish abstract | En la actualidad existen diferentes herramientas que sugieren susceptibilidad genética a diferentes genes, en relación a la expresión de agresión enmarcada en el diagnostico de psicopatía, no obstante muchas de aquellas señales no han logrado ser consistentemente replicadas, esto debido a factores poblacionales, étnicos, culturales y económicos, y por supuesto a la falta de robustez muestral de los estudios como también a las herramientas diagnosticas usadas. Adicionalmente, las imprecisiones diagnosticas y la falta de conocimiento neurobiológico de las moléculas implicadas en los trastornos psiquiátricos, aumentan la heterogeneidad genética del trastorno y el uso de las herramientas diagnosticas que adolecen del análisis de los factores, y que dicotomizan el rasgo clínico, conllevan a una pérdida de poder en la validación del fenotipo. En este artículo se exponen las estrategias más apropiadas para tamizar la psicopatía mas allá de las asociaciones a genes de susceptibilidad, refinando las herramientas diagnosticas en torno a los endofenotipos que puedan resultar putativos en la psicopatía y que contribuyan a delimitar los aspectos clínicos y relevantes para el diagnostico diferencial |
| English abstract | At present there exist a lot of neurobiological and molecular studies that suggest genetic susceptibility to different characteristics of the expression of psychopathy; nevertheless, so far much of those results have not successfully and consistently been replicated, mainly because of the difficulties in: sensitivity, specificity and validity of the clinical evaluation methods; the size and type of the chosen population; and the experimental designs used. Unfortunately, the diagnoses in psychiatry and psychology uses a classification based on prevalence and intensity of the symptoms and do not taken into account the etiology, neurobiology, epidemiology, genetics and response to medication. The use of limited diagnostic tools analysis and dichotomized the clinical diagnoses lead to a loss of power in the validation of the phenotype being studied and the lack of neurobiological knowledge of the molecules implicated in this kind of disorders, increasing the genetic heterogeneity. This condition obstructs the mapping of susceptibility genes which might outline the neurobiology and pathophysiology of the disease as a central scheme in the conceptualization of the syndrome.
