| Spanish abstract | La arqueología industrial es una nueva área multidisciplinaria, que ha despertado interés en los medios académicos y gubernamentales de los países de alto desarrollo industrial. Su importancia proviene del interés por conservar y estudiar los restos de plantas industriales que han entrado en desuso como consecuencia de los avances tecnológicos y la competencia. En el presente trabajo se expone una introducción al tema, iniciando con una explicación teórica de la arqueología clásica; enseguida los significados y usos del concepto “industria”, y sus definiciones económicas y humanísticas. Por último se discute su importacia para la sociedad y las ingenierías |
| English abstract | Industrial archaeology is a new multidisciplinary area, that has waked up interest in the academic and governmental dependencies of the countries with high industrial development. Its importance comes from the interest to preserve and to study the rest of industrial plants that have entered disuse as a result of the technological advances and the competition. In the present work an introduction to the subject is exposed, initiating with a theoretical explanation of classic archaeology; followed by the meaning and uses of the concept “industry”, and its economic and humanistic defi nitions. The last section is focused on the exhibition of its importance for the society and engineerings |
