| Spanish abstract | Se trata de poner en evidencia la importancia que tiene para el ingeniero, la formación adecuada en el área de la Estadística, para hacer frente a la variabilidad y la incertidumbre que aparece en las situaciones corrientes de su ejercicio profesional. El Marco a partir del cual se reconstruye la dimensión estadística en el currículo del ingeniero, desarrollada con base en la necesidad de disponer de heurísticas que le permitan tomar decisiones razonables al ejercer su profesión de ingeniero, está basado en los planteamientos de Koen (1985). Se pretende enfatizar la conveniencia y la necesidad de incluir una buena formación básica en Estadística, como una componente esencial en las carreras de Ingeniería. Se realiza una propuesta de temas a tratar, suficientemente flexible para adaptarse a las necesidades específicas de los distintos programas académicos de Ingeniería |
| English abstract | The goal is to make clear how important it is for engineers to reach appropriate literacy in Statistics. This way, engineers would successfully cope with phenomena like variability and uncertainty appearing on most common Engineering problems. The framework from which we suggest to rebuild the statistical dimension in the engineering curriculum is based on thoughts by Koen (1985) The statistical dimension is developed from the need of the availability of some heuristics that may help the engineer in the making of reasonable decisions. We emphasize the convenience and need of the inclusion of a solid basic instruction in Statistics, as an essential component in the engineering curriculum. A set of subjects is proposed, flexible enough to adapt itself to the specific needs of the different academic programs in Engineering |
