| Spanish abstract | Este estudio muestra la respuesta sísmica de dos estructuras adyacentes conectadas por amortiguadores lineales (con 5% de amortiguamiento), se tratan dos sistemas de un grado de libertad (SDOF) unidos el uno al otro por un amortiguador viscoso pasivo, los cuales fueron sometidos a un análisis de historias de tiempo. La excitación sísmica fue modelada como un proceso arbitrario no estacionario y la respuesta sísmica fue obtenida por simulaciones de Monte Carlo. En el caso de las estructuras conectadas por un amortiguador viscoso lineal, se encontró que las expresiones aproximadas existentes para evaluar la respuesta sísmica son cualitativamente correctas en sentido de que indican de manera correcta en qué casos el control de conexión es conveniente |
| English abstract | This study shows the seismic response of two adjacent structures connected by linear viscous dampers (5% damped) SDOF systems linked to one another by a passive viscous damper was comprehensively evaluated trough time history analysis. The seismic excitation was modelled as a non stationary random process, and the response of the structures was obtained by Monte Carlo simulations. It was found that existing approximate expressions to evaluate the seismic response are qualitatively correct in the sense that they rightly indicate in which cases the coupling control approach is indeed convenient |
