| English abstract | Based on Winnicott’s theory, this paper discusses the analyst’s ethical position, which should be able to give support to the individual’s original condition, thus favoring his maturing process. Such support, which is linked to an ethics of autonomy, seems different from other kinds of therapy that provide only the elimination of symptoms, without offering alternatives that contribute to the development and the creative expression of the self. In order to illustrate the position maintained by the analyst's support, we will focus on the analysis of a patient of Winnicott’s, analyst Margaret Little. In such analysis, the referred position played a key role in dealing with the intense psychotic anxieties of the patient and, consequently, in promoting her integration and emotional development. By respecting the specific needs of the patient's self, this is an ethical position that respects otherness |
| Portuguese abstract | Neste texto, tendo como foco a obra de Winnicott, discute-se a posição ética do analista, a qual deve ser capaz de fornecer sustentação à condição originária do indivíduo e, assim, favorecer seu processo maturacional. Tal sustentação, por originar- se de uma ética da autonomia, parece não ser comparável a outras formas terapêuticas que visem apenas à eliminação do sintoma, ou à adaptação do paciente, por intermédio de técnicas de sugestão, sem oferecer alternativas que contribuam para o desenvolvimento e a expressão criativa do self. A fim de ilustrar a posição de sustentação desempenhada pelo analista, será apresentada uma discussão da análise de uma paciente de Winnicott, a analista Margareth Little. Nessa análise, a referida posição desempenhou um papel fundamental no que diz respeito a Winnicott lidar com as intensas ansiedades psicóticas da paciente e, dessa forma, favorecer sua integração e desenvolvimento emocional. Ao respeitar as necessidades específicas do self do paciente, a posição de sustentação constitui uma posição ética de respeito à alteridade |
