| Spanish abstract | Este texto analiza la dinámica de las relaciones entre organizaciones indígenas y el gobierno de Rafael Correa, realizando antes un apretado recorrido de estas relaciones en distintos gobiernos, en especial aquellos que siguieron al levantamiento indígena de 1990. Hecho que permitió a los indígenas conquistar un espacio en la escena política y construir una representación propia, que permitiera llevar adelante sus demandas de citadinidad. Demandas que se han concretado básicamente por medio de la protesta como mecanismo de presión. Sin embargo, desde finales de los años noventa, la organización indígena ha perdido sus orientaciones y su capacidad de negociación con el Estado. En este contexto, las relaciones con el Gobierno actual, revelan una clara disputa entre estas dos entidades sobre las exigencias de reconocimiento de la diferencia y mayor igualdad |
| English abstract | This text analyzes the dynamic in relations between indigenous organizations and Rafael Correa’s government, first providing a very brief summary of these relations in previous administrations, especially those that followed the indigenous uprising of 1990. This event allowed indigenous people to claim a space on the political stage and to construct their own representation, which would, in turn, allow for progress in their demands for citadinidad. These demands have been presented primarily through the use of protests as a pressure mechanism. However, since the end of the 1990s, the indigenous organization has lost its points of reference and its ability to negotiate with the state. In this context, relations with the current administration, reveal a clear dispute between the two as regards demands for the recognition of difference and an increase in equality |
