Resumen en inglés Information and communication technologies, in their overwhelming advance, have impacted different social spheres. Education, which has been impacted by the existence not only by new forms of communication, but also by new forms of teaching and learning through virtual spaces, does not escape this incidence. The continuous and vigorous development of information and communication technologies leads to a diversified understanding of their essence and educational value. Integrating these technologies into education, while it may seem like an easy task, has become one of the biggest challenges facing education today, particularly higher education, due to the coexistence of different generations of technological advances from recent decades and the intentions expressed in educational policies that have either promoted or hindered their integration. Increasing technological complexity will not necessarily promote the development of higher education, the digital competencies and skills of teachers and students are essential to effectively integrate emerging technologies into higher education and the learning environment. From this perspective and taking into consideration the main challenges facing higher education and how this process is seen in perspective, an analysis is presented on the integration of information and communication technologies in education, particularly in the field of education. higher education.
Resumen en español Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, en su avance arrollador, han impactado en los diferentes ámbitos sociales, de esta incidencia no escapa la educación que ha sido impactada a partir de la existencia no solo de nuevas formas de comunicarse, sino de nuevas formas de enseñar y aprender a través de espacios virtuales. El desarrollo continuo y vigoroso de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación lleva a una comprensión diversificada de su esencia y su valor educativo. Integrar estas tecnologías a la educación, si bien pudiera parecer una tarea fácil, se ha convertido en uno de los mayores retos que enfrenta hoy la educación y en particular la educación superior, debido a coexistir diferentes generaciones de los avances tecnológicos de las últimas décadas y las intenciones expresadas en políticas educativas que han potenciado o no su integración. Aumentar la complejidad tecnológica no necesariamente promoverá el desarrollo de la educación superior, las competencias y habilidades digitales de los profesores y estudiantes son esenciales para integrar eficazmente las tecnologías emergentes en la educación superior y el entorno de aprendizaje. Desde esta perspectiva y teniendo en consideración los principales retos que enfrenta la educación superior y cómo se ve en perspectiva este proceso, se presenta un análisis sobre la integración de las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones en la educación, de manera particular en la educación superior.Abstract: Information and communication technologies, in their overwhelming advance, have impacted different social spheres.
