| English abstract | The following work aims to analyze forestry development during the porfirista period (1876-1911), where it also addresses the impulse that was given to the drying out of swamps and lagoons in various entities of the country, as part of the land grabbing actions that were promoted for the extension of agriculture. Similarly, it addresses two important figures on forestry in Mexico: Mariano Barcena and Miguel Angel de Quevedo, intellectuals who stood out for their contributions to the conservation of forests in the country. This proposal is linked through environmental history, taking as a common thread the institutional decisions regarding the management and protection of forest resources that the Mexican government implemented at the time. |
| Spanish abstract | El siguiente trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar el desarrollo de la política forestal durante el periodo porfirista (1876-1911), en el cual además se aborda el impulso que se le dio a la desecación de ciénegas y lagunas en diversas regiones del país, como parte de las acciones de acaparamiento de tierras que se impulsó para la extensión de la agricultura. Del mismo modo, se aborda a dos figuras importantes del tema forestal en México: Mariano Bárcena y Miguel Ángel de Quevedo, intelectuales que destacaron por sus aportaciones en la conservación de los bosques en el país. Esta propuesta se desarrolla a través de la historia ambiental, tomando como hilo conductor las decisiones institucionales relativas al manejo y a la protección de los recursos forestales que en su momento implementó el Gobierno mexicano |
