| English abstract | The colonato was the system that organized the exploitation of labor and land in coffee plantations, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro, from the late 19th century until the second half of the 20th century. The objective of this article is to understand the role of the less perceptible conflicts and the everyday forms of peasant resistance, from the narratives of rural workers and of plantation owners. For this purpose, it uses a documentary corpus related to Santo Inácio coffee plantation, in particular, interviews with leaders recognized as authorized spokespersons of the different groups involved. The interviews provide narratives about the colonato that highlight the fundamental conflicts in constructing of notions of rights, helping to shape the genesis, the changes and the overcoming of the system |
| Portuguese abstract | O colonato foi o sistema que organizou a exploração do trabalho e da terra na lavoura cafeeira, na região serrana fluminense, de fins do século XIX até a segunda metade do século XX. O objetivo deste artigo é entender o papel dos conflitos menos perceptíveis e das formas de resistência cotidiana, a partir das narrativas de trabalhadores rurais e de proprietários. Para isso, utiliza corpus documental relacionado à fazenda cafeeira Santo Inácio, em especial, entre- vistas com líderes reconhecidos como porta-vozes autorizados dos diferentes grupos envolvi- dos. As entrevistas fornecem narrativas sobre o colonato que permitem destacar os conflitos fundamentais na construção de noções de direitos, ajudando a moldar a gênese, as alterações e a superação do sistema |
