English abstract After heated debates and mass political mobilizations, the constituents of Cartagena in 1812 extended the quality of citizens to colored free men. With the political revolution of 1810, the use of that name continued until the first decades of the Republic to differentiate between individuals because of their class, race and status. However, the political participation of citizens of color generated a real igualitarian revolution that was not well received by the best of the most notable white people. The later, with their official power, designed some stratagems an speeches to exclude ther people belonging to thar colores etnia or social class
