| Spanish abstract | Este artículo tiene como objetivo indagar sobre la localización geográfica y características materiales e inmateriales de las cárceles clandestinas que fueron instaladas en México durante la Guerra Fría. En este contexto y con la fuerza doctrinaria de la seguridad nacional, en varios países latinoamericanos se ejercieron estrategias represivas para la aniquilación del "enemigo interno". Entre ellas fue recurrente el establecimiento de cárceles clandestinas donde se confinó a los detenidos convirtiéndolos en desaparecidos. Para realizar el análisis, se empleó una metodología cualitativa que permitió observar las cárceles como dispositivos de seguridad. Asimismo, donde la consulta y articulación de fuentes documentales y testimoniales que, aunque no especializadas en el tema, si proporcionaron indicios sobre la temática. Gracias a estos datos, se confeccionó uno de los primeros listados nacionales sobre su ubicación territorial, sus responsables operativos y sus elementos constitutivos. El régimen mexicano logró prácticamente hasta el nuevo milenio el oculta-miento internacional de su represión interna. No obstante, ninguna de las estrategias represivas le fue ajena. También internamente una capa nebulosa, casi impenetrable, desfiguró la historia reciente. Ello fue favorecido por una impunidad estructural erigida como barrera difícil de sortear para el conocimiento y, sin duda, para cumplir con la defensa más inclusiva de los derechos humanos |
| English abstract | This article aims to investigate the geographic location and the material and immaterial characteristics of the clandestine prisons that were set up in Mexico during the Cold War. In this context and with the doctrinal power of national security, several Latin American countries enforced repressive strategies for the annihilation of the "enemy within". One common strategy was setting up clandestine prisons where the detainees were confined, making them be considered as disappeared persons. The investigation was performed using a qualitative methodology, which allowed for prisons to be observed as security devices. It also employed the consultation and articulation of documentary and testimonial sources that, although they were not specialized, did provide evidence on the subject. With these data, it was possible to make one of the first national lists regarding the location and constitutive elements of these prisons and the people responsible for their operation. The Mexican regime managed to keep its internal repression secret from the rest of the world until nearly the beginning of the new millennium. Nevertheless, none of the repressive strategies was foreign to it. These strategies were hidden through nebulous and impenetrable mechanisms that disfigured the discourse on recent history within the country's borders. This was possible due to structural impunity, which was erected as a barrier against knowledge of the repression and, undoubtedly, against a most inclusive defense of human rights |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo tem como objetivo indagar sobre a localização geográfica e as características materiais e imateriais das prisões clandestinas que foram instaladas no México durante a Guerra Fria. Neste contexto e com a força doutrinária da segurança nacional, em vários países latino-americanos foram exercidas estratégias repressivas para a aniquilação do "inimigo interno". Entre elas foi recorrente o estabelecimento de prisões clandestinas onde foram confinados os detidos tornando-os em desaparecidos. Para realizar a análise, foi empregada uma metodologia qualitativa que permitiu observar as prisões como dispositivos de segurança. Igualmente, na qual a consulta e articulação de fontes documentais e testemunhais que, ainda que não especializadas no tema, realmente proporcionaram indícios sobre a temática. Graças a estes dados, foi elaborada uma das primeiras listagens nacionais sobre sua localização territorial, seus responsáveis operativos e seus elementos constitutivos. O regime mexicano conseguiu, praticamente até o novo milênio, o ocultamento internacional da sua repressão interna. Não obstante, nenhuma das estratégias repressivas ficou inexplorada. Também internamente uma capa nebulosa, quase impenetrável, desfigurou a história recente. Isso foi favorecido por uma impunidade estrutural erguida como barreira difícil de sortear para o conhecimento e, sem dúvida, para cumprir com a defesa mais inclusiva dos direitos humanos |
