| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo analiza el contexto económico y geopolítico del debate sobre la industrialización ocurrido al interior del partido bolchevique entre Preobrazhenski y Bukharin. Un rápido catch up industrial era imprescindible para un país aislado en términos internacionales, en proceso revolucionario, y atrasado en términos económicos. Sin embargo, el proceso de industrialización enfrentaba significativas contradicciones sociales. La entrega de las tierras a los campesinos en el inicio de la revolución generó una caída del excedente agrícola que trababa el proceso de industrialización. En ese contexto, se plantearon dos alternativas: o se aceleraba el desarrollo industrial con el riesgo de declarar una guerra a la mayoría campesina, o se optaba por un crecimiento a “paso de tortuga”, que imposibilitaba el necesario catch up industrial y militar con las potencias más desarrolladas |
| English abstract | This paper analyses the economic and geopolitical context of the debate on industrialization carried out at the Bolshevik party between Preobrazhenski and Bukharin. A rapid industrial catch up was an imperious requirement for an isolated country, living a revolutionary process, and characterized by a backward economy. However, the industrialization process had to face remarkable social contradictions. The distribution of land between peasants at the beginning of the revolution reduced the agricultural surplus. This fact hindered the process of industrialization. In this context, two alternatives were suggested: either to accelerate industrial development at the risk of declaring war to the peasant majority, or to growth in a tortoise pace, which ruled out the possibility to catch up the great international powers |
