| English abstract | the images of the cinema incorporate human experiences and weave senses intertwined with the elements of reality. The histories narrated in the cinema compose, in plastic form, reverberations of the art of the memory described by Cicero and Quintiliano. In the light of this, we will talk about the shattering of culture in the aesthetic and ethical movements that took place in modernity and the conservation of icons and emblems that persist in today’s images of cinema. To do so, we will punctuate, in these images, elocutions and ornaments alluding to time and the past. | Portuguese abstract | as imagens do cinema incorporam experiências humanas e tecem sentidos entrelaçados aos elementos da realidade. As histórias narradas no cinema compõem, de forma plástica, reverberações da arte da memória descrita por Cícero e Quintiliano. Diante disso, falaremos sobre os estilhaços da cultura nos movimentos estéticos e éticos ocorridos na modernidade e a conservação de ícones e emblemas que persistem na atualidade das imagens do cinema. Para tanto, pontuaremos, nessas imagens, elocuções e ornamentos alusivos ao tempo e ao passado.
