| Spanish abstract | En este artículo se analizan las diferencias salariales entre la población nativa blanca no-hispana, afronorteamericana y los inmigrantes latinoamericanos y caribeños en los Estados Unidos. Se emplea el método de descomposición de brechas salariales desarrollado por Oaxaca (1973), para establecer cuánto de la brecha se debe a diferencias de capital humano entre los trabajadores, y cuánto al trato diferencial que ejerce el mercado sobre algunos trabajadores. Los resultados destacan grandes diferencias de capital humano entre los trabajadores, pero también, el trato desigual del mercado ejercido principalmente hacia algunos grupos de trabajadores latinoamericanos |
| English abstract | This article analyzes salary differences between the native White, nonHispanic population, Afro-North Americans and Latin American and Caribbean immigrants in the United States. The method for decomposition of salary differences developed by Oaxaca (1973) is used to establish to what extent the difference is due to differences in human capital among the workers, and to what extent it is due to the differential treatment the market exercises over some workers. Results highlight great differences in human capital among the workers, but also, the unequal treatment of the market exercised principally toward some groups of Latin American workers |
