| English abstract | This article strives to approach the theme of planting new churches through the clear light of biblical Reformed roots. It is premised on the idea that the planting of new churches, done by Christian missionaries, should be carried out in a similar pattern to the work carried out by the apostles in the establishing of New Testament local churches. Their process of action is described in the Lord’s Great Commission, with a method of seeding the Gospel that involves the participation of all believers in the planting of new churches. The article proposes, therefore, a theological direction for church planting. Beginning with an exploration of Scripture, specifically Paul’s incursions, it analyzes some contemporary approaches to church planting, through the pertinent literature. The connections between the Church Planting Movement and the older Church Growth Movement are considered, especially in terms of the focus on statistical and numerical returns. | Portuguese abstract | Este artigo aborda o tema do plantio de novas igrejas sob a perspectiva das raízes bíblicas reformadas. Sua premissa é de que o plantio de novas igrejas realizado por missionários cristãos segue o mesmo padrão do trabalho levado a efeito pelos apóstolos, no estabelecimento de igrejas locais. Sua ação é descrita na Grande Comissão do Senhor Jesus Cristo e seu processo de semeadura do evangelho, também no plantio de igrejas, envolve a participação de todo crente. O presente artigo propõe, então, um sentido teológico de plantação de igrejas. A partir da exploração bíblica, especificamente dos avanços do apóstolo Paulo, analisa algumas vertentes atuais de modelos de plantação de igrejas e a literatura pertinente. São considerados os vínculos que o movimento de plantação de igrejas mantém com o antigo Movimento de Crescimento da Igreja, especialmente no que diz respeito à busca de resultados numéricos e estatísticos. A seguir, considera alguns referenciais reformados, observando a influência, os conceitos e as metodologias apresentadas na sua literatura.
