| English abstract | The article addresses the issue of church organization in the theology of the apostle Paul in comparison to various organizational presuppositions seen in modern churches. It describes the importance of hierarchy in New Testament church structure, which, however, does not compete with the lordship of Christ. It also demonstrates that, despite their appeal to Scriptu - re, the hyper-organization of many modern churches departs from the New Testament standards, which is also true of the disorganized pattern of the emergent churches. The author deals with the relationship between the local church and the church as a federation, showing the local dimension as pre - dominant in Pauline theology. However, the connectional aspect should not be forgotten so far as it remains in submission to the Head and keeps in mind the importance of the ministries that make the church grow. The system of church councils is fundamentally biblical, provided it retains simplicity in the way it leads the church and the unity of the churches is mainly characterized by doctrinal identity |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo aborda a questão da organização da igreja na teologia do apóstolo Paulo, numa comparação com diversos pressupostos organizacionais vistos nas igrejas modernas. Descreve a importância da hierarquia na organi - zação da igreja do Novo Testamento, que, não obstante, jamais concorre com o senhorio de Cristo. Nesse sentido, demonstra que, embora com fundamento bíblico, a hiperorganização de muitas igrejas modernas se afasta do padrão do Novo Testamento, assim como o padrão desorganizado das igrejas emergentes. Aborda a relação entre igreja local e igreja como federação, mostrando o as - pecto local como predominante na teologia paulina. Porém, o aspecto federado não é desconsiderado quando a igreja consegue se manter sob a servilidade do Cabeça e sem perder de vista a importância dos ministérios que a fazem crescer. O sistema conciliar é fundamentalmente bíblico, desde que nunca perca a simplicidade em seu modo de dirigir a igreja e a união das igrejas seja marcada prioritariamente pela identidade doutrinária |
