| English abstract | This exegesis seeks to understand how to interpret biblical ambiguities, especially in narrative texts of the Old Testament. The author seeks to show how and why the text of Judges 19 has been greatly debated in academic circles by examining different ambiguities of the text. There are many omissions of the narrator of Judges 19 that might be confusing to the 21 st century reader, Such as: a subjective vagueness, the anonymity of the characters, and an apparent morel silence. Thus, the author also seeks to show subsequently that, by interpreting the text of Judges 19 with the principles of narrative selectivity and of the near and far contexts in mind, the ambiguities and omissions fit together perfectly in the intended meaning in a text that speaks primarily of the absence of a king for Israel |
| Portuguese abstract | Este artigo é uma exegese que busca entender como interpretar ambiguidades bíblicas, especialmente em textos narrativos do Antigo Testamento. O autor objetiva mostrar como e por que o texto de Juízes 19 tem sido grandemente debatido em círculos acadêmicos, examinando diferentes ambiguidades encontradas nessa narrativa. Há várias omissões do narrador de Juízes 19 que podem ser confusas para o leitor do século 21: uma imprecisão subjetiva, o anonimato dos personagens e um aparente silêncio moral. Desse modo, o autor procura mostrar em seguida que, ao se interpretar o texto de Juízes 19 levando-se em cont os princípios de seletividade narrativa e dos contextos próximo e distante, as ambiguidades e omissões se encaixam perfeitamente no significado pretendido em um texto que fala principalmente da ausência de um rei para Israel |
