| Spanish abstract | A partir del caso de Laureano Villanueva, nombre representativo del liberalismo amarillo venezolano, examinaremos el contexto familiar de quienes podían ingresar, en el hecho, por sus posibilidades económicas, a la educación universitaria en la Venezuela decimonónica; cualidad sustancial para acceder entonces a la elite dirigente del país. Procurando un acercamiento inicial al perfil de quienes integraron el conjunto de egresados universitarios, que tuvo una destacada participación en la esfera político-intelectual, y la propia elite liberal durante el último tercio del siglo XIX, estableceremos una aproximación al ambiente académico en el cual estudió y a su formación como médico |
| English abstract | By researching the case of Laureano Villanueva, who is a representative name of the so called venezuelan ‘yellow liberalism’, we will examine the family status of those who could have a place in the college education system of nineteenthcentury Venezuela due to economic factors. That was essential in order to have access to the elite that led the country. We intend to approach to the profile of those college graduates, who participated in the political-intellectual sphere, related to the liberal elite during the last decades of the nineteenth century. In so doing, we will stablish a link between Villanueva’s academic environment and has training as a medical doctor |
