Lo que fascina al poeta es que la pasión de sor Juana por el saber parece ser el único sustento de una aparente “vocación” religiosa, y no tanto la pasión por Dios. Según Paz, sor Juana es una monja sin vocación; sin embargo, las trampas de la fe de la monja son el medio que la llevan a encontrar su liberación en el claustro y su redención a través de la escritura y el silencio |
| English abstract | In the celebrated study Sor Juana: Or, the traps of faith, Octavio Paz manifests his interest in the tenth muse. What fascinates the poet is that Sor Juana’s passion for knowledge seems to be the only sustenance of an apparent religious “vocation”, and not so much the passion for God. According to Paz, sor Juana is a nun without vocation; however, the traps of the nun’s faith are the means that lead her to find her liberation in the cloister and her redemption through writing and silence |
