| Spanish abstract | En el emblemático año de 2001 se publica La villa de César Aira. Esta novela funciona como un dispositivo óptico que permite visibilizar ciertas contusiones en el entramado social y sus efectos a partir de un trabajo con lo residual como contenido y como material. Lo residual se materializa en la novela en tres niveles. A nivel de la trama, La villa tiene como espacio el vertedero de la ciudad, habitado por personajes supernumerarios y anodinos que guardan, no obstante, un inquietante potencial. A nivel formal, Aira acude a matrices genéricas desgastadas, tales como el policial, el fairy tale, y lo televisivo. A nivel de los imaginarios que evoca, La villa trabaja con los lugares comunes privilegiados de la clase media. Estas tres inflexiones de lo residual se superponen configurando un pequeño fresco, un ramillete de historias que se entrecruzan por la lógica -mágica e implacable- de la ficción |
| English abstract | César Aira's La villa appears in the emblematic year of 2001. This oeuvre works as an optical device that allows to visualize certain contusions of the social and its effects, thanks to the residual as content and as material. The residual materializes in the novel in three levels. At the level of the plot, La villa has as space the landfill of the city, inhabited by supernumerary and anodyne characters who, nevertheless, keep a disturbing potential. At the formal level, Aira employs worn generic matrices, such as detective novels, fairy tale, and TV shows. At the level of the imaginary, the oeuvre works with the privileged commonplaces of the middle class. These three inflections of the residual are superimposed forming a small fresco, a bunch of stories that are interwoven by the magical and implacable logic of fiction |
