| Spanish abstract | La sierra noroccidental de Puebla (México) ha pasado en los últimos años de estar en la vanguardia en cuanto a la promoción de las culturas originarias y de la interculturalidad entre estas y la modernidad, a un retroceso generalizado de dicho proceso. En este artículo se analiza esta regresión en las organizaciones que estaban sirviendo de modelo de interculturalidad. Al relacionar las diversas dinámicas específicas observadas encada organizaciónaparece, por un lado, una rigidez en las instituciones modernas que limita la interculturalidad, algo opuesto al discurso oficial de aperturacultural, y, por otro, una creciente mercantilización de la sociedad y la cultura, en línea con la modernización global. Por su parte, los pobladores originarios muestran recientemente un menor activismo sociocultural y menores niveles de transmisión lingüística y cultural, correlacionando el nivel de participación con el de autoafirmación identitaria, tal y como ocurría en la etapa de promoción de la interculturalidad |
| English abstract | The region of the northwestern mountains of Puebla (Mexico) has passed in the last years from the vanguard to a generalized setback in the promotion of the original cultures and the interculturality between them and the modernity. This article analyzes this regression in each of the organizations that were serving as a model of interculturality. Analyzing together various specific causes from each organization we find a rigidity in modern institutions that limits interculturality, something opposed to the official discourse of cultural openness, also, we witness a growing commercialization of society and culture along the global advance of modernization. In turn, indigenous people have recently shown less social and cultural activism and lower levels of linguistic and cultural transmission, correlating the level of participation with that of ethnic self-esteem, as it did in the stage of intercultural promotion |
