| English abstract | In this paper the authors analyze essential drivers of migration/immigration through examining movements intrinsically connected to the social and cultural context of Brazil. The research is based on interviews of migrants from Northeast Brazil who live in the region of Inhumas, Goiás state and is interpreted with insights drawn from the literature on migration. Three different moments of migration are detected: the importance of migration as a historical process; economic motivations for leaving one’s place of origin; and the migrants’ affective justifications. The latter is shown to be linked to kinship or family ties and to be the most relevant motivation for migrating |
| Portuguese abstract | Neste artigo, analisam-se, de forma sucinta, as motivações essenciais da migração/imigração interna no contexto nacional, observando os movimentos migratórios como intrinsecamente ligados à constituição sociocultural brasileira. A presente análise apoia-se em uma pesquisa bibliográfica com diversos autores/as da temática, além de entrevistas realizadas com migrantes nordestinos na região de Inhumas, estado de Goiás. Como resultado geral aponta-se a existência de três diferentes momentos: a importância dos deslocamentos migratórios enquanto “devir histórico”; as categorias econômicas vistas como motivadoras dessas mudanças de localidades; e as justificativas afetivas dos migrantes, estas últimas ligadas ao parentesco ou à família e que têm uma importância primordial enquanto motivações para o(s) deslocamento(s) |
