| Spanish abstract | En este artículo, comparo dos relatos emparentados por el tema y por la estructura narrativa. En ambos se trata sobre una prenda de vestir que termina por asfixiar, literalmente, a sus dueños (un vestido en el caso de Silvina Ocampo; un suéter en el de Cortázar). Además, analizo cómo los narradores y los personajes de “El vestido de terciopelo” y de “No se culpe a nadie” se disfrazan para influir en el lector y, al mismo tiempo, encubren una doble trama en el relato: la trama de la superficie y una soterrada crítica al statu quo |
| English abstract | In this article, I compare two stories related by theme and by the narrative structure. Both concern a piece of clothing that literally asphyxiates their owners (a dress in the case of Silvina Ocampo and a sweater in the case of Cortázar). Apart from that I analyze how the narrators and characters of “El vestido de terciopelo” and “No se culpe a nadie” disguise themselves to influence the reader and, at the same time, conceal the double plot of the story: the plot on the surface and the one laying buried that is critical of the statu quo |
