| Spanish abstract | Este trabajo ofrece una exposición de algunos de los rasgos tipológicos más importantes del idioma maya yucateco. Se presenta en primer lugar la clasificación genética de este idioma dentro de la familia lingüística maya, y unos breves comentarios sobre su variación dialectal. Posteriormente, dentro de la fonología, se describen los sistemas consonántico y vocálico y la estructura silábica. En la morfosintaxis se describen las correlaciones estructurales, el sistema de alineamiento y la marcación. A lo largo del trabajo el alfabeto utilizado para ilustrar los ejemplos, incluso en el apartado de fonología, será el de la Comisión de Difusión del Alfabeto Maya (1984) |
| English abstract | This paper presents some of the most important typological traits of the Yucatecan Mayan language. In the first place we show the genetic classification of this language within the Mayan linguistic family along with some brief comments on dialectical variation. Afterwards, and in the area of phonology, we describe the consonant, vowel systems together with the syllabic structure. In the area of morphology and syntax, we describe the structural correlations along with the alignment and marking system. Throughout the paper, the alphabet being used to illustrate the examples, as well as in the phonology section, will be that of the Comisión de Difusión del Alfabeto Maya (1984) |
