English abstract | Sacred pain is materialized in Western Culture on the bodies of the saints. The artistic representations made for these entities are aimed to materialize the experience of suffering before the eyes of baroque society. Therefore, the embodiment of pain in these entities was conceived as a vehicle for religious practices and to be imitated. Thus, the suffering of the sacred body was expressed visually by the wounds of Christ and the pierced heart of the Virgin Mary |
