| Spanish abstract | Se discute aquí, desde perspectiva epistemológica el empleo de nociones generales para acuñar el carácter del arte latinoamericano con la intención de relativizar el alcance de esas nociones, en vista tanto de las dimensiones estéticas a que se refieren como de su inscripción histórica. Apelando a tres autores latinoamericanos señeros (Jorge Luis Borges, José Lezama Lima y Gabriela Mistral), se problematiza la relación entre representación e historia, para concluir con algunas consideraciones sobre la cate - goría de lo neobarroco y la cuestión epistemológica de la elucidación conceptual del arte |
| English abstract | This paper discusses from an epistemological point of view the use of general notions for the specification of the character of Latin American art. The discussion attempts to play down the import of those notions in view of the aesthetic dimensions to which they refer, as well as in view of their historical inscription. Resorting to three fundamental Latin American authors, the paper tries to question the relation between representation and history, concluding with some considerations on the category of the neo-baroque and on the epistemological issue of the conceptual elucidation of art |
