| Spanish abstract | Este artículo rastrea la cambiante dinámica entre lo rural y lo urbano en diversos periodos del cine colombiano a través del análisis de una selección de películas de ficción y documentales. Al examinar una serie de discursos fílmicos que van de conservadores o modernizantes a revolucionarios o deconstructivos, pone en tela de juicio la separación estructural entre lo rural y popular y lo urbano y civilizado. m ás aún: propone que la mediatización del espacio rural, lejos de ser reciente y aberrante, es tan antigua como el propio cine, y un elemento constitutivo del imaginario topográfico colombiano |
| English abstract | This article traces the changing dynamics between the rural and the urban across various periods of Colombian cinema through an analysis of a selection of fiction and documentary films. Its reading of a set of filmic discourses that are variously conservative, modernising, revolutionary, and deconstructive problematises the structural separation of the rural and popular from the urban and civilised. Furthermore, it suggests that the mediatisation of rural space, far from being recent and aberrant, is both as old as cinema itself and a constitutive element of the Colombian topographical imaginary |
