| Spanish abstract | El artículo tiene como propósito analizar el surgimiento del Estado de bienestar, fundamentando sus postulados y métodos de política económica, las posibles causas de su crisis y analizando brevemente los casos argentino y sueco. El Estado de bienestar produjo la etapa más exitosa de los treinta años gloriosos del capitalismo, tanto en materia de producción y productividad, como de mejoras de las condiciones materiales de vida de la población-pleno empleo, salarios altos indexables y regulables, en definitiva, mejora en la distribución de ingresos. Pero tuvo sus límites en la década de los 70’, porque se produce una crisis de mantenimiento fiscal, fundamentalmente por los gastos que superan a los ingresos y en el tiempo son no sustentables. Es una crisis del modelo de acumulación; el Estado es culpable de no generar mayor productividad y crecimiento |
| English abstract | This paper attempts to discuss the beginning of the welfare state, giving an account of its postulates and economic policies methods, the possible causes for its crisis and a brief analysis of its application in Argentina and Sweden. The welfare state brought about the most successful period in the thirty great years of capitalism both as regards production and productivity, as well as in the improvements of the material conditions of life for the population—full employment, high indexed and regulated salaries; in short, a better income distribution. But in the 70’s it reached its limits when a crisis in the taxing system came about, basically due to spending becoming greater than income, which make the system unsustainable in the long run. It is a crisis of the accummulation model; the State is responsible for not generating greater productivity and growth |
