| Spanish abstract | Incrementar la actividad turística de México a través de la diversificación de más y nuevos mercados turísticos requiere no sólo encontrar los lugares con atractivos naturales o culturales, también, estudiar las condiciones socioeconómicas y ambientales de tales sitios en donde se pretende fomentar flujos constantes de visitantes. A este respecto, en cualquier proyecto de desarrollo turístico sustentable es de suma importancia considerar la posición que asume la población local y, con base en ello, formular las mejores estrategias. En el presente trabajo se detallan las actividades que se llevaron a cabo para revelar la dinámica turística existente en 32 municipios ubicados en el litoral sur occidental del Pacífico Mexicano; los resultados permitieron identificar varios espacios en donde se pueden establecer las bases de un turismo sustentable. A la fecha, se ha trabajado con cuatro cooperativas las cuales delinearon metas específicas y, en colaboración con autoridades municipales, organismos ambientales e instituciones como la Secretaría de Turismo, decidieron promover este tipo de turismo en sus localidades |
| English abstract | Increasing tourism in Mexico through the diversification of more and new markets requires not only to find the most attractive natural and cultural sites but also studying the socio-economic and environmental conditions of the sites where intends to constant flow of visitors arriving. What is more, in any sustainable tourism development project it is very important to consider the position of local people in order to design the best strategies. This paper shows in detail the activities that were carried out to reveal the touristic dynamic in the 32 municipalities located in the Mexican Southwest Pacific coastline; the results allowed to identify spaces in which it is possible to establish the basis of a sustainable tourism. To date, a lot of work has been done in four local unions whose members designed their own specific goals and, in collaboration with municipal authorities, environmental agencies and tourist organisms, decided to promote this type of tourism in their communities |
