| Spanish abstract | El presente ensayo sobre la responsabilidad o el compromiso social universitario de las instituciones de educación superior de Venezuela y el mundo, es una invitación a la reflexión sobre este tema, abordando su génesis, los retos actuales, sus impactos y características. Un hecho evidente en la dinámica institucional y social, es la conveniencia de unir esfuerzos para buscar soluciones a los problemas diarios de los pueblos, alejándonos definitivamente del claustro universitario y abrir las puertas para el intercambio de saberes – haceres docente y productivo, en una relación de beneficio mutuo. Se puntualiza entonces que la responsabilidad o compromiso social, aún cuando no es una dimensión nueva, constituye una manera dinámica para abordar a la población, sentir sus problemas, sus retos, sus esperanzas y que las iniciativas se cumplan en esa integración escuela - comunidad, para formar una ciudadanía consciente de sus aportes para el despegue local, regional y nacional de su país |
| English abstract | The present essay on the responsibility or university social commitment of higher education institutions in Venezuela and the world, it is an invitation to the reflect on this issue addressing its origin, current challenges, impacts and characteristics. An evident fact in the institutional dynamics is the convenience of joining efforts to find solutions to people’s daily problems, getting them away from the university cloister and to open the doors for the exchange of academic and productive knowledge and actions in a relationship of mutual benefits. It is highlighted that the responsibility or social commitment, even when it is not a new dimension, constitute a dynamic way to reach the population, feel their problems, challenges, expectations and that the initiative can be reached in that integration between the school and the community to form a community conscious of their contributions to the local, regional and national development of their country |
