| Spanish abstract | Este artículo invita a reflexionar sobre los cuestionamientos a la calidad de la educación básica en Chile, desde una perspectiva de género. Para ello, se analizó la praxis discursiva de un grupo de estudiantes de Pedagogía, a través de una entrevista grupal, identificando las metáforas que conforman su discurso y que, en su interpretación, contienen la caracterización de su propia identidad docente. Concluimos que, por encima de los atributos profesionales, la educación es una profesión altamente feminizada, sobre la cual recae el imaginario del apostolado maternal y otros principios propios del estereotipo de género. En esta feminización de la docencia puede estar entrampada la calidad de la escuela básica chilena, como institución imaginariamente femenina |
| English abstract | This article invites us to reflect on inquiry of the quality of basic education in Chile, from a gender perspective. To do this, we analyzed the discursive praxis of a group of students of pedagogy through a group interview, identifying the metaphors that make their speech, which shows the characterization of their own teacher identity. We conclude that, beyond the professional attributes, education in Chile is a profession exercised mostly by women, on which rests the maternal apostolate and other principles inherent in the female gender stereotype. This over-population of female teachers can be the reason for the quality of basic education in Chile to be stuck |
